Introducing Sunbaked… Recipes To Make With Kids
Introducing my new baby!
Sunbaked is a new recipe project, dedicated to recipes to make with kids.
Some of you may know, although most of you won’t, but for the past two years I’ve entered a new phase of life as a step mum (or bonus mum) to two little boys. I didn’t think I’d ever be saying that at 28! But here we are.
Although challenging at times, which I’m sure some of you know, I luckily get to enjoy not just my incredible boyfriend, but his two little mini-me’s as well… Triple the love.
Over the past two years, I’ve used baking as a way to spend special time with them and watch them explore the kitchen. Not to mention like any toddler, preschooler or child that exists – the excitement of treats is certainly not lost on them. So they are always keen to get involved, with plenty of taste tests along the way of course.
Healthy treats are not something I’m new to, but my recipes are generally geared towards an adult palate – lots of dark chocolate and cacao and fancier things that aren’t exactly the recipes I would choose to make with kids.
And this is why I decided to start Sunbaked, so I could have a new home for recipes specially for this purpose. The recipes on my website will not be changing, nor will the fancy handmade ceramics I serve them on – but on Sunbaked, you won’t find me serving my three year old a cookie on a bespoke Byron Bay ceramic plate.
This is not a family nutrition blog, nor will it be family dinners or homemade baby food puree. There are plenty of great existing resources for these topics.
Sunbaked is recipes to make with kids. It’s for parents, nannies, cousins and older siblings.
The recipes are designed to suit palates of all ages, and most importantly with a nutritious spin (it is me after all), using fruit to sweeten and reducing sugar as much as possible. If anyone has nailed how to make healthy treats that don’t taste healthy – it’s me, and I’ve spent the last two years testing them on these kids (and their dad). There’s only been a couple of fails, that they haven’t eaten.
The recipes will be coming out just by email – it’s a secret email club, how fun. And in a few months time, we’ll have a whole website to explore.
So if you are here for it, sign up for the sunbaked club here. It’s completely free.
And follow along on IG.
And if you have a friend you think would love this, share it with them. And help me on my mission to raise a generation that is connected to food, can use a kitchen and loves nourishing food.
