More Than Just Hot Cacao (No Blender)

This is so much more than just a healthy version of a hot chocolate. It’s a life saver. I’m all about creamy decadent sensual food… I’m all about the EXPERIENCE when you eat or drink a particular food item – and I think it makes such a difference to how the food tastes, how you digest it, and your overall relationship with food.

I love indulgence, and I love boujee.

But I absolutely don’t believe this has to mean unhealthy food. Instead, it has to mean rich and organic and flavourful and ‘made with love’ food, whatever that may be. Get me?

When you eat food like this and in a mindful matter, there is no need to overeat, there is no need to pine after junk food that you feel like you can’t have.

You just sit in the moment with your hot cacao, tasting every delicious element, connecting with it and honouring it for what it’s going to give you – life, energy, yourself.

So when people make fun of me for spending $65 on a handmade ceramic mug that I could have bought from Kmart for three bucks, I just think…. This is not just a mug, it’s a sign of love and of honour for the food I’m eating.

And this is not just with crockery and cutlery, but also with where you eat, who you eat with, where you buy your ingredients and how you feel about them. So many people these days feel sad and stressed and worried when they sit down to eat (they’re in a rush, or they’re forcing themselves to eat lettuce when they want to eat roasted potato, or worst of all, they think the food in front of them is going to make them fat which absolutely breaks my heart).

Eating food doesn’t have to be this way and it shouldn’t.

More Than Just Hot Cacao (No Blender)

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup (250ml) almond milk 
  • ½  tbsp raw cacao 
  • 1 spoonful of coconut cream
  • 1 tsp collagen (optional) 
  • 3-4 drops liquid stevia 
  • Adaptogens and mushies of choice!*
METHOD
  1. Place all ingredients in a small pot and gently heat - don’t boil. Pour into a hot cup and enjoy.
 
Notes
  • Fill the mug with boiling water from the kettle while you are heating up the cacao. Pour it out before you pour in the cacao. This heats the mug so your hot drink stays hot! 
  • At the moment I am using reishi mushrooms.
