Matcha Beauty Green Smoothie

Wholesome food choices are the corner stone to a healthy beauty routine. I believe that no matter how many products you put on your skin, the foundation to beautiful skin really comes from the inside out.

There are many parts of diet that play a role, there are antioxidants that fight off free radical damage and signs of ageing, anti-inflammatory fats that keep the skin moisturised and your hormones happy, and amino acids that allow your body to build up its own proteins like collagen, which is responsible for keeping the skin plump and youthful.

This smoothie has all of these elements.

My top three skin food tips are:

  • Include many different colourful plants (the more deeper and diverse the colours are the better)
  • Plant based fats are your friends. Enjoy daily things like avocado, hemp seeds, coconut, olive oil and flaxseed oil
  • Ensure you have some decent protein in your meals (at least 20g per meal) and try a collagen powder to supplement

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 zucchini, chopped
  • 1 cup organic spinach 
  • ½ frozen banana  
  • ½ medium avocado
  • 1 cup (250ml) coconut water  
  • 1 tsp collagen powder 
  • ¼ tsp matcha 
  • 1 scoop protein (optional)
METHOD
  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
 
Notes
  • Vegan option: Omit the collagen powder. 
  • Protein powder recommendation: I like Bare Blends.
