Hemp Halva... Sugar Free, Vegan, Keto Friendly

Halva has always been one of my favourite desserts. It’s a sesame based fudge-like dessert common to Middle Eastern cuisine, which by the way is my favourite kind of food! That and Italian. Give me all the tahini, eggplant, tabouli and slow cooked lamb. Ok I’m getting off topic… Back to the recipe.

This one is not for the faint hearted, it’s extremely rich and as always, not super sweet. Due to the slight of the hemp, they have an unusual flavour, however I’m ALL for it. If you like the texture of coconut butter, you’ll like these… but I wouldn’t go serving this to my junk food loving friends haha!

Ingredients

  • 5 cups desiccated coconut

  • 2 cups hemp seeds

  • 3 tablespoons unhulled tahini

  • 20 drops liquid stevia

  • 1 vanilla bean, seeds scraped

Method:

  1. In a high speed blender or food processor, blend the coconut and hemp seeds together until liquid. This takes a while and your blender will get a little bit of a workout, but eventually you’ll get there.

  2. Add in the remaining ingredients and blend until combined.

  3. Pour into a baking paper lined tray and place in the fridge to set. When set, slice into small squares. Store in the fridge but leave to soften slightly before serving.

Serves 20.
