Current Bulletproof Recipe... And How I Drink My Bulletproof Coffee
It's no secret I LOVE my bulletproof coffees! If you follow me on the gram you'll know I basically post a video of my morning bulletproof almost every day... Sorry if this bored you but it just makes me so happy.
There are a few different versions of bulletproof coffee, the basic one being grass-fed butter and MCT oil blended with coffee. I love this and drank this for basically the whole of the past year. But to be honest I love changing it up! Recently this is the version of bulletproof I've been enjoying... I've swapped out the butter for coconut oil and I've started adding my daily adaptogens (I get lots of questions on this so blog post coming soon).
My Current Morning Coffee Recipe:
- 1 cup hot organic coffee which I make in a French press
- 1 tablespoon MCT oil
- Roughly 2 teaspoons coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp turmeric, ground
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground
- 1/2 tsp maca powder
- 1/4 tsp rhodiola
- 1/4 tsp ashwagandha
All blended up in a blender to make it frothy and creamy!
Please note, you don't need to add all these adaptogens to your coffee! I take these for specific reasons and you may not need them. It's more the fact that since I have a bulletproof most mornings, it's an easy way to make sure I get them into my diet daily.
Do I have bulletproof coffee everyday? No but I do love them so will have them more often than not. I don't tend to have MCT oil if I'm not in ketosis, sometimes if I know I'm not in ketosis I'll make this recipe but without the MCT oil. Other days I just fast and just have regular coffee with a dash of almond milk, or an almond milk latte if I'm out in a cafe.
Lots of people seem to be confused about bulletproof coffees and where they fit in. Bulletproof coffees will technically break a fast, but do you think I care about technicality? No haha. I see them as a modified form of fasting. I have it as breakfast and it's a tool that I use to be able to shorten my eating window, only require 2 meals a day and give my digestion a break.
Let me know if you have any more questions! :D
